Open Call #1 - Call for Experts

The SUSRUR project (GA 101085887) is having a second call for experts to work as independent evaluators in Open Call #1 - Accelerator.

What is the SUSRUR consortium looking for?

Experts with knowledge and proven experience in the Tourism sector - mainly in rural and remote areas - and/ or sustainable and innovative practices/ strategies, to join in as an independent evaluator in the evaluation process of the Open Call #1.

Experts who work as entrepreneurs, consultants, researchers, or other activity since they clearly demonstrate expertise and proven experience in the sector.

Ideally, experts may be from the five target regions targeted by the SUSRUR project:

  1. Asturias (Spain); 
  2. Western Macedonia (Greece); 
  3. Harghita (Romania); 
  4. Utena (Lithuania); and,
  5. Steirisches Vulkanland (Austria). 

Note: In case experts have submit an application to Open Call #1 or any other conflict of interest, they will be automatically excluded from the process.

What are the advantages to participate in the Open Call #1 process?

Contribute to SUSRUR’s goals and be recognized as an independent evaluator in a  COSME project. Note that experts cannot publicly announce that they are collaborating with the SUSRUR consortium until the end of the project (December 2025), as it is a confidential process and all evaluators must remain anonymous. However, independent evaluators can explicitly say they are involved in an evaluation process as experts in an European Commission project.

Be economically compensated for the work performed. Based on the European Commission rules, the work performed by independent evaluators will be reimbursed based on the number of proposals reviewed: each proposal corresponds to a total of € 45 (considering 1 hour to evaluate each proposal on average).

Get to know your peers (increase your network) and contribute to the success of the SUSRUR project which is designed to benefit European regions.

How and when to apply?

The second call for experts is open from 10 July 2023 (12h00 CEST) to 26 July 2023 (17h00 CEST). Applications must be submitted via F6S online system:  f6s.com.

Note: Experts will receive an invitation letter by the SUSRUR consortium until 04 August 2023.

What is expected from the expert in terms of commitment?

SUSRUR Open Call #1 will close 02 August 2023 at 17:00 CEST. Experts must be available during the evaluation period which is set to run during August 2023, according to the following indicative timeline:

  • Evaluators Conference call: 08 August 2023 at 16:00 CEST
  • Contract signature: Until 11 August 2023
  • Application evaluation: From 14 August 2023 to 25 August 2023
  • Consensus Meeting call: 30 August 2023 at 16:00 CEST (if necessary) 

The evaluation stage will take place remotely, using tools provided by the SUSRUR consortium.

Note: The above timeline is indicative and may change according to consortium needs. However, all experts are expected to be available and committed to the evaluation process around one month after the submission phase ends (02 August 2023).

SUSRUR Project

The SUSRUR project was launched in January 2023 to address the inherent challenges for Tourism SMEs from 5 rural & remote areas of Europe by promoting open calls to help awarded applicants to develop their sustainability and innovative practices and strategies while providing tools and skills to strengthen their competitiveness in a post-COVID-19 scenario.

Open Call #1’s target applicants are European Tourism SMEs established in the following 5 (five) rural and remotes areas: 

  1. Asturias (Spain); 
  2. Western Macedonia (Greece); 
  3. Harghita (Romania); 
  4. Utena (Lithuania); and,
  5. Steirisches Vulkanland (Austria). 

SUSRUR aims to support SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) from 5 European rural and remote areas by promoting sustainability and innovative practices and strategies while providing tools and skills to strengthen their competitiveness in a post-COVID-19 scenario, increasing their awareness and capacity to accelerate and implement the twin green and digital transitions.

Please note that the Expression of Interest to participate in the evaluation process of SUSRUR Open Call #1 – Accelerator Program as an independent expert is NOT binding and does NOT constitute any commitment to the SUSRUR project.  

The selection of independent evaluators to support SUSRUR consortium in the evaluation of Open Call #1 will be taken at a later stage, since it depends on the number of received proposals, their origin, the domain that they target as well as the origin of the potential evaluators, their affiliations, their expertise and the balance between various criteria (e.g. gender, background, affiliation type, age, expertise etc.).
